The best World of Tanks clan names are bold, easy to shout in Clan Wars voice chat, and paired with a short tag that fits the game’s 2–5 character limit. Below are 50 clan name ideas grouped by style, with tag examples and the rules that matter before your commander locks anything in. If your clan later rebrands, remember the commander changes the name and tag on the official clan portal for in-game gold — so a strong first choice saves real currency. What Makes a Strong WoT Clan Name
Your clan name appears on the Global Map, in stronghold battles and next to every member’s tag in random battles. The best names signal identity in two or three words: a metal, an animal, a tactic or a joke your whole clan owns. Tags are short — just 2–5 characters — so plan the tag at the same time as the name, not after. Because renaming on the clan portal costs gold, treat founding like signing a banner you will defend for years. Clan culture from other games translates well too, as our best Warframe clan names guide shows.

Picking the Name and Tag Together
Write the tag first if you can — a great 2–5 character tag like [DERP] or [IRNW] often decides the name. Say the full name in a callout: “push with [clan name]” should take one breath. Draft more combinations with the random nickname generator, then check the clan portal for close duplicates. Tag-specific help lives in our dedicated World of Tanks clan tag ideas guide.
Before Your Commander Confirms
Only the commander can create or rename the clan, and renames on the official clan portal cost in-game gold. A changed clan name can also be locked for a period before anyone can reuse it, so never rename on impulse. Vote with your officers, check the portal, and only then commit. More naming guides for every game are on Stylish Nickname Maker, including the change process in our how to change your clan name in World of Tanks walkthrough.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can choose a World of Tanks clan name?
The clan commander creates the clan and controls its name and tag through the official clan portal. Officers and members cannot rename the clan.
How long can a WoT clan tag be?
Clan tags are short — 2 to 5 characters. Build the tag from the clan name’s initials or strongest word so members are recognised instantly.
Does renaming a clan cost anything?
Yes. Changing a clan name or tag on the clan portal costs in-game gold, which is why clans should vote carefully before the commander confirms.
Can I check if a clan name is taken?
Search existing clans on the official clan portal — that is the reliable check. No fan site can live-check clan name availability for you.
