Which Symbols Actually Work in an Activision ID?
Be honest with yourself before spending a rename token: Activision IDs are more restrictive than mobile game names. Many heavy Unicode frames are stripped or rejected in the profile editor, and the ID must stay within 16 characters. The safest approach is to build the name, paste it into the editor at the official profile page, and only confirm when the preview accepts it — the exact steps are in our guide on how to change your Activision ID name. If your symbol version is rejected, fall back to the fancy-letter version of the same word, which keeps the style with a much higher acceptance rate. Players on mobile can use far heavier frames — see the Stumble Guys names with symbols list for those.
How to Build Your Own Symbol ID in 30 Seconds
Start with a 5–8 letter base word, then decide your single decoration: one frame, one symbol, or one fancy font — never all three, or the ID turns into noise and often breaks the 16-character limit. Generate the base word in the style you like, copy the lightest version first, and paste it into the Activision editor to test acceptance before you try heavier variants. If the editor strips your frame, the fancy-letter version of the same word almost always survives. Keep a plain-text backup of your final ID in your notes; if you ever need support or account recovery, you will be asked for the exact name, and symbols are hard to describe over a support form.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an Activision ID contain symbols?
Some symbols and fancy Unicode letters are accepted, but Activision filters many special characters and enforces a 16-character limit. Always test the exact name in the profile editor before confirming the change.
How many characters can an Activision ID have?
An Activision ID can be up to 16 characters long. Symbol frames count toward that limit, so keep the core word short — 6 to 10 characters leaves room for a light frame.
Why was my Activision ID name rejected?
Common reasons are the name being too long, containing a filtered symbol, including a blocked word, or already being registered by another player. Simplify the symbols or add a short tag and try again.
Where do I change my Activision ID?
You can rename at profile.callofduty.com under Basic Info, or from the in-game profile menu in Warzone and Modern Warfare. A username change token is required; you earn one every six months and can hold up to two.
